　　故事发生在第二次世界大战期间，美国军官莱恩（弗兰克·辛纳特拉 Frank Sinatra 饰）成为了德军的俘虏关进了位于意大利的战俘营中，除了莱恩外，这里还关押了六百多名英国战俘。莱恩的智慧和善良很快就得到了战俘们的拥簇，他成为了营地里首当其冲的“领导人”。　　营地里的生活充满了痛苦与压迫，随着时间的推移，为了生存，大家的内心里开始打起了逃跑的念头。可是，德军戒备森严，想要逃出生天又谈何容易，俘虏们将目光和希望寄托在了莱恩的身上。背负着大家的信任，莱恩能够完成这项几乎不可能完成的任务吗？要知道，计划一旦失败，他们所要面临的结局只有一个，那就是死亡。

When Sun realizes Wong is there to kill me he tries to set his friend's mind at ease by telling him he is the beneficiary of all Sun's worldly possessions and convinces Wong to promise to take care of Sun's young daughter, Toya San who Sun has bequeathed to become his wife. Years later, when she becomes of age, she marries Wong, now a powerful figure, though she loves evil Harry. When Wong learns Toya will be happier with Harry he allows them to leave. Still later Wong learns that Harry has been deported and since Toya could not prove she was married to someone else she too was deported to China. When Wong learns of this, he goes after them.

The teacher is charged with her husband's murder, but fortunately the prosecutor on the case is a former student of hers, of whom she had taken painstaking care when she was working at an elementary school. Remembering her kindness to him, the prosecutor uncovers her innocence in court, and she is acquitted of the crime.　　Notes　　"A silent movie that allows us to examine the narrator-accompanied method of 16mm films" (Chung Jong-wha)　　A Public Prosecutor and a Teacher is familiar to us for the performance of Shin Chool, Korea's last silent movie narrator (known as "byeonsa"in Korean). Numerous critics have recommended the film, praising it as "a silent movie that allows us to examine the narrator-accompanied method of 16mm films" (Chung Jong-wha), "the work of Korea's last silent movie narrator" (Kim Hong-joon), a movie that "reflects the public's consciousness and has great historical value" (Lee Seung-hun), and "the archetypal new-school film" (Chung Sung-il). As evidenced by such commentary, A Public Prosecutor and a Teacherenjoys greater recognition for its historical value as the only surviving silent movie in Korea than for its artistic or technical aspects. What is ironic is the fact that this recognition derivesfrom a production and screening method that fell behind the times, as sound films (or "talkies") had already become the norm when the movie was first made.
